Hyundai building high-performance edition of Genesis Coupe

Hyundai is getting serious about making inroads in the high-performance arena. Its latest endeavor, announced on September 24, is to team up once again with ARK Performance to create an ultra-high-performance track edition based on the Genesis Coupe R-Spec model. Hyundai plans to unveil The ARK super-tuner track edition at the 2012 SEMA show, which will run from October 30 through November 2 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Undoubtedly, a number of Angeleno car nuts will take a spin out to sin city to check out the event.

This hopped up Genesis will house a 3.8-liter, direct-injected engine, which churns out 395 HP at 6800 RPM (40 lb.-ft. of torque at 5400 RPM). Hyundai notes that the ARK design theme for the exterior puts the already muscular character lines of the Genesis Coupe on steroids, with race-like flared over-fenders, an aggressive front splitter, and carbon-fiber hood with heat-extractor vents. “The Genesis Coupe R-Spec is an ideal platform from which to build our SEMA track edition” noted Ted Lee, owner of ARK performance, Inc. “The ARK Genesis Coupe R-Spec truly demonstrates the full track-tuning potential of the affordable Genesis Coupe R-Spec model. ARK continues to represent the ultimate in aftermarket performance tuning for Hyundai.”

Beyond the in-your-face exterior, the ARK Genesis Coupe sports many engine modifications, a race-like interior environment, racing differential, tires, brakes and suspension.
